Preparing a plate to be mounted to the offset rotation printing press

Printer checks the plate.

Printer pours oil on the back of the plate.

A thin piece of paper is 'glued' to the back of the plate. The oil serves as adhesive.

Printer pours oil on back of the piece of paper which already was put at the back of the plate. By adding paper to the plate the printer increases the thickness of the plate. This will ameliorate positioning of the plate to the press.

Above procedure is locally inspired. It is not a general procedure.
